RESPONSIBILITIES

AWARDS & CLUB PRESENTATIONS:

ANNUAL AWARDS : - Nancy Reimer, Chairman

            Determine year-end award recipients; arrange for and send award certificates to Top Ten recipients; solicit photos and arrange for production and presentation of awards, publication in the Aristocrat and permanent possession for Historian books.

 ANNUAL VERSATILITY AWARD & VERSATILITY HALL OF FAME - Karen Ackerman, Chairman

            Collect and verify applications for the Annual Top Versatility Borzoi Award. 
Collect and verify title information for all Borzoi achieving a triple title.  Maintain the Versatility Hall of Fame and create certificates for presentation annually for all Borzoi who have achieved the triple title crown.  Submit the names of new Hall of Fame inductees to the Aristocrat annually for publication.

CONFORMATION CHAMPIONSHIP MEDALS: - Christine Danker, Chairman

            Mail out BCOA championship medals quarterly to all member-owned finishing Borzoi. Provide the BCOA board with a report of those Borzoi finishing their championship titles quarterly.

CLUB INVENTORY/MEDALS: - Tom Carroll, Chairman

            Arrange for distribution of all club medals (championship/title award /and TSE awards) to the various statistical chairman as needed.  Mail out Trophy Supported Entry medals to the chairpersons of all BCOA TSE events.  Maintain an inventory level of medals and awards with reorders as needed.  Maintain an inventory of remaining specialty medallions from prior National Specialties.  Keep and maintain the archive display boxes of past specialty medallions which are put on display at special events.

              STANDARDIZED TROPHIES: - Barbara O'Neill, Chairman

            Arrange for production of standardized trophies and rosettes for the National Specialty; arrange for engraving plates of challenge trophies with winner's name following the specialty.

ARISTOCRAT : - Maureen Bardwell, Chairman

            Keep BCOA board informed of updates and any changes in policy; maintain Aristocrat Guidelines; solicit articles and material for the Aristocrat and the Borzoi Connection as a whole.

 CLUB EDUCATION: - Jennifer Beach-Buda, Executive Chairman

Direct and oversee the Club Education Committee and the various sub-committees of the Club Education Committee.  Provide to the Board written reports of the activities of the Club Education Committees on a quarterly basis.

          BCOA WEB SITE: - Jennifer Beach-Buda, Web Master

Arrange for and maintain a closed home-page on the Internet, providing BCOA information including, but not limited to, the Borzoi Standard, publications and name and address of the current Corresponding Secretary; arrange for any other educational events or materials as needed

             CLUB WEB FORUMS:.

                         “OUR FAMOUS BORZOI”: - Betsy Denning Claus, Chairman

            Arrange for and maintain a show case of the famous Borzoi of our past.  Critiques will be provided of the merits and/or faults of the Borzoi by their owners or breeders and will be featured in a special section on the BCOA Web Site.

             “BORZOI TALK BACK”:

            An interactive web forum where members may interact directly with the author of an article, critique posted articles, or provide comments.  Set up and maintain a schedule of articles to appear on the “Borzoi Talk Back” forum pages.  Articles will range from original articles to reprinted articles (with permission) on various activities of the Borzoi breed.

            A two year term; arrange for timely articles in the AKC Gazette, keeping in mind that it is distributed to more than Borzoi people and the breed should be presented to the fancy in a favorable light.  May arrange for guest columnists as needed.

            ARISTOCRAT CLUB EDUCATION ARTICLES: -  (Pending)

            Arrange for several articles geared toward club education to be printed in the Aristocat each year.

 2001 NATIONAL SPECIALTY SEMINAR COMMITTEE: - Jennifer Beach-Buda, Chairman

Arrange for club education at the National Specialty in the form of seminars and presentations.  Arrange for the speakers and provide publicity for the events. Handle  pre-registrations for scheduled events.

 2002 NATIONAL SPECIALTY SEMINAR COMMITTEE: - Alice Reese, Chairman

Arrange for club education at the National Specialty in the form of seminars and presentations.  Arrange for the speakers and provide publicity for the events. Handle  pre-registrations for scheduled events.

 COLOR COMMITTEE: - Patti Neale, Chairman

Review the list of AKC recommended colors and markings and make recommendations to the Board as to which colors & markings should be acknowledged for the breed.

CONSTITUTION COMMITTEE: - Shen Smith & Patricia Murphy

FUTURITY:

Arrange for trophies and hospitality for the Futurity event.

            Record keeping, judge balloting and Futurity Show Secretary.

HEALTH COMMITTEE:
Direct and oversee the BCOA Health Committee and the various sub-committees of the Health Committee.  Provide to the Board written reports of the activities of the Committee on a quarterly basis.  Make recommendations as to the allocation of Health Committee funds.  Coordinate fund raising projects,  coordinate the allocation of health funds for the various health projects such as low cost health screening clinics with the Nationals.

           Borzoi Health – Membership Liason: - Gary Nash, DVM,
 Chairman

Arrange and/or solicit and review articles to be published in the Aristocrat; keep membership appraised through the Aristocrat of any developments or trends in the health of Borzoi.  Provide general health materials relevant to Borzoi for publication.

Borzoi Health – National Specialty Health Seminars and Screening Clinics,  Wm Norelli, DVM

Coordinate health seminars for the National Specialties and secure  the health screening clinics normally associated with our National specialty shows.

Borzoi Health – Breed Survey: - Bonnie Dalzell, MA. Chairman

Arrange for and direct the creation of a Borzoi Health Survey to re-identify the major Borzoi related health concerns.  Arrange for the tabulation of the results of the Borzoi Health Survey and create a follow-up program from the resulting data.

Borzoi Health – Midwest/Central Regional Resource Committee: - Virginia Jones, Chairman

Search out and secure area health seminar resources for seminars or clinics.  Provide assistance to regional clubs in the help of setting up seminars and clinics.  Coordinate with the executive chairman regarding the allocation of any funding provided for regional seminars or clinics.  Communicate parent club resources and activities with regional Borzoi clubs.

 Borzoi Health – Ways & Means Committee, Barbara Yoon, Chairman

Coordinate with executive chairman on fund raising events for the Health Committee to help subsidize the various Health Committee projects.

 Borzoi Health  - Registry: - Lou Avant, DVM, Executive Chairman

Solicit and maintain data for a Borzoi health registry.  Provide certificates for Borzoi who maintain active participation in the registry.

Borzoi Health - Resource Web Site: - Nancy Hopkins, Chairman

Create, design and maintain a Borzoi Health Resource web site of the most current links and resources for information on Borzoi related health problems at the BCOA web site of http://www.borzoihealth.org which is linked to the main BCOA web site.

CLUB ARCHIVES: - Barbara Yoon, Chairman

            Solicit, collect, store and prepare for presentation when necessary, items that represent BCOA history of events and activities.

CLUB HISTORIAN: - Laurie Kasowski, Chairman

            Maintain National Specialty and Annual Award recipient photos; arrange for display of Historian books at each National Specialty.  Provide historical Borzoi articles as needed for the Aristocrat and web site projects.

INCORPORATION COMMITTEE: Jan Leikam, Chairman

            Follow through with the BCOA Health & BCOA Rescue Tax Exempt Status Incorporations.  Review the BCOA General Club incorporation status and make reports to the BCOA Board.  Work on the incorporation of the Borzoi Connection incorporation papers.

Direct and oversee the Judges Education Committee and the various sub-committees of the JEC Programs.  Provide to the Board written reports of the activities of the JEC on a quarterly basis.

JEC – NATIONAL SPECIALTY  & SANCTIONED EVENTS:

Arrange for the creation of material for distribution to judges and for BCOA sanctioned events.  Host judges education seminars & workshops at the National specialty show.

JUDGES EDUCATION WEB SITE & ON-LINE JUDGES WORKSHOP & VIDEO:

Create and maintain an interactive web site containing a judges education workshop with on-line continuing education applications for prospective Borzoi judges and licensed judges of the Borzoi breed.  The JEC web site would contain open areas for the membership and general public and possibly a closed section for licensed judges only in order to facilitate the tracking of attendance by breed judges. 

 The committee will also create a method of providing the JEC workshop material in a CD/DVD or video format for ease of distribution to the membership and the interested  public.

REVIEW MENTOR GUIDELINES & WORKSHOPS: - Mary Childs & Cricket Murray

A review of the currently approved guidelines for the BCOA mentor program, with the ultimate goal to provide recommendations for an updated guideline, create tools for the memberships better understanding of the BCOA Mentor Program.   Another area this sub-committee might consider would be in developing and implementing mentor workshops for the approved BCOA mentors.  A system of mentor workshops could be established to be held in various parts of the country throughout the year so more of our breed mentors could attend at least one workshop each year. 

"KEEPING IN TOUCH": - Edna Ogata & Phyllis Brettell

            Arrange for a list of life members and long-time Borzoi people for the purpose to brighten, encourage and cheer up someone in need of BCOA support by written communication and greeting cards; compile information for Aristocrat publication, one-half page twice per year.

MEMBERSHIP COMMITTEE: Edna Ogata, Chairman

            Receive completed membership application forms, receive completed sponsor forms, and prepare completed sets of applications/sponsor forms for transmittal to the Recording Secretary.

PUBLICITY: - Kalen Dumke, Chairman

            Prepare information for publication in the "Dogs in Review" and other publications as directed by the Board.

 REGIONIAL RE-DISTRICTING COMMITTEE: - Barbara O’Neill, Chairman, Steve Gross,  Andy Knapp, & Kathy Wright.

            A committee to consider the regional membership distribution in light of creating two or three new BCOA Regions -  possible - Middle Atlantic States Region and Mountain States Region.

 RESCUE COMMITTEE - Dr. Maureen Bardwell, Executive Chairman

            Direct and oversee the BCOA Rescue Committee and the various sub-committees of the Rescue Committee.  Provide to the Board written reports of the activities of the Committee on a quarterly basis.  Create and maintain guidelines for the committee. Make recommendations as to the allocation of Rescue Committee funds.  Coordinate fund raising projects,  and coordinate application grants for the allocation of funds from the committee. Be a conduit for information between BCOA, the National Borzoi Rescue Foundation, and regional rescue organizations.

            Compile statistics for agility to be published in the Aristocrat; and solicit/provide one or more articles on agility per year for Aristocrat publication.

JUNIOR SHOWMANSHIP: - Barbara Lord, Chairman

            Compile statistics for Junior Showmanship to be published in the Aristocrat; arrange for the sending of medals to juniors of BCOA members who have accrued 50 points or more; encourage specialty clubs to provide Junior Showmanship classes; solicit/provide one or more articles on Junior Showmanship per year for Aristocrat publication.

            LURE COURSING: - K.C. Artley, Chairman

            Arrange for statistics for ASFA and AKC Lure Coursing to be published in the Aristocrat; arrange for the sending of medals to member-owned ASFA and AKC Field Champions; designate an ASFA Delegate; review course plan for National Specialty field trial; encourage BCOA trophy-supported-entry lure trials; solicit/provide one or more articles on lure coursing per year for Aristocrat publication.

             OBEDIENCE: - Edna Ogata, Chairman

            Compile statistics for obedience to be published in the Aristocrat; arrange for the sending of medals to member-owned AKC Obedience Title holders; encourage specialty clubs to hold obedience trials; encourage obedience participation; solicit/provide one or more articles on obedience per year for Aristocrat publication.

            Compile statistics for open field to be published in the Aristocrat; arrange for the sending of medals to member-owned Open Field Title holders; solicit/provide one or more articles on open field coursing per year for Aristocrat publication.

            LGRA: - Carol Enz, Chairman

            Will serve as the BCOA Delegate to the LGRA and keep the BCOA board informed on activities within the LGRA.  Solicit/provide one or more articles on racing per year for the Aristocrat publication.

            LGRA/NOTRA: - Barbara Ewing, Statistics Chairman

            Compile statistics for LGRA/NOTRA to be published in the Aristocrat.

 VISUALIZATION OF THE STANDARD: - Chris Neale, Chairman

            Sales & distribution of Visualizations of the Standard.

            Store, maintain an inventory and distribute as needed all items available for sale, including yearbooks, yearplates,  etc.

            Solicit artwork and arrange for manufacture of coverlet/throw/pillow.
